About the SafeGauge Pressure Transducer

Common Use Cases

SafeGauge Pressure Transducers are used across a wide range of heavy-equipment testing and maintenance tasks, including:

  • Hydraulic system pressure testing
  • Pump, valve, and circuit diagnostics
  • Commissioning and post-repair verification
  • Pressure checks during live machine operation

Ideal for workshops, field service, and mine sites where safety, speed, and traceable data are critical.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Wireless operation – View live pressure readings from up to 100m (328 ft) away
  • Improved safety – Removes technicians from crush zones and fluid-injection risk
  • Real-time data streaming – Instantly see pressure readings on the mobile app as tests are performed
  • Compact & rugged design – Built for harsh industrial environments
  • Fast setup – Reduce test time and labour requirements compared to analogue gauges

Compatibility with the SafeGauge Mobile App

The SafeGauge Pressure Transducer can be paired directly with the SafeGauge mobile app, giving technicians a portable and flexible way to view and capture pressure data.

Once connected, live pressure readings stream wirelessly to the app in real time, allowing technicians to monitor tests from a safe distance and make immediate decisions in the field. Measurements are automatically captured digitally, removing the need for handwritten notes or manual data entry.

The mobile app is ideal for quick checks, troubleshooting, and smaller test setups, while still providing the same safety benefits, clear visibility, and reliable data capture that SafeGauge is known for.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What applications are SafeGauge Pressure Transducers used for?

The SafeGauge Pressure Transducers measure pressures in fluid and gas systems.

They are widely used across heavy-equipment and industrial environments for tasks such as checking hydraulic system performance, verifying oil and boost pressure during engine setup and commissioning, and testing air-conditioning and pneumatic systems.

What's included in the Pressure Transducer Compact Kit?

The kit includes:

  • 2 x Pressure Transducers (your choice of 5 pressure ratings available)
  • 2 x Female CAT adapters
  • 1 x Charger with cables
  • 1 x Zip up carry case

Where do I read the test results?

Pressure readings from SafeGauge Pressure Transducers are displayed wirelessly via Bluetooth on a compatible viewing device. Results can be viewed on the SafeGauge MultiTool Pro tablet or on your own smartphone or tablet using the SafeGauge mobile app.

For users of the Pressure Transducer Compact Kit, we recommend using the mobile app, which allows both pressure transducers in the kit to be connected and viewed at the same time.

How do the Pressure Transducers connect to the fluid system?

SafeGauge Pressure Transducers are typically mounted directly to a machine’s pressure test ports using suitable adapter fittings. Each transducer features a 1/4" NPT male thread, allowing it to interface with a wide range of hydraulic and fluid systems.

Common adapter options include CAT and STAUFF fittings, both of which can be supplied by SafeGauge to suit your specific application.

What is the Bluetooth range?

SafeGauge Pressure Transducers connect to the MultiTool Pro tablet via Bluetooth with an operating range of up to 100 metres (328 feet), depending on site conditions.

When using the SafeGauge mobile app, the typical wireless range is up to 50 metres, with performance varying based on the model and Bluetooth capability of the mobile device being used.

What pressure ranges are SafeGauge Pressure Transducers available in?

SafeGauge Pressure Transducers are offered in multiple pressure ranges to suit a wide range of testing applications. This flexibility allows you to choose transducers that match the operating pressures of your system, ensuring accurate and reliable measurement for the task at hand.

0 - 5 bar / -14 to +72psi
0 - 25 bar / 0 to 362psi
0 - 100 bar / 0 to 1450psi
0 - 300 bar / 0 to 4351psi
0 - 600 bar / 0 to 8702psi

How do I select the right SafeGauge Pressure Transducer?

Choosing the correct Pressure Transducer depends on several factors, including the type of machinery being tested, the system’s maximum operating pressure, and the specific tests you need to perform. It’s also important to consider the level of measurement accuracy required for your application.

If you’re unsure which pressure range is appropriate, SafeGauge recommends checking the equipment manufacturer’s specifications or reviewing the machine’s service and maintenance documentation to confirm the maximum test pressure.

How accurate are SafeGauge Pressure Transducers?

The SafeGauge Pressure Transducers are accurate to 0.2% full scale.

How quick do the numbers update? Operating hydraulic hammers, it’s quick bursts of pressures that I’m watching for.

The numbers update at 32 Hz, so you’ll see readings refreshed 32 times per second. Fast enough to capture short pressure bursts during hammer operation.

How do I charge my SafeGauge wireless Pressure Transducers?

The Pressure Transducers are charged via a 5V DC charger in the charging case.

How long does the Pressure Transducer operate when fully charged?

30 hours.

How long does it take to charge a Pressure Transducer?

It takes 3 hours to charge from zero to fully charged.

Do SafeGauge Pressure Transducers come with a warranty?

Yes, the SafeGauge Pressure Transducers come with a 12-month warranty.

Do SafeGauge Pressure Transducers require calibration?

Yes. To maintain measurement accuracy and performance, SafeGauge recommends that Pressure Transducers are serviced and calibrated on a 12-month cycle. Calibration and servicing can be completed either by SafeGauge directly or through one of our authorised service partners.

What happens if a Pressure Transducer is exposed to overpressure?

The SafeGauge MultiTool Pro will notify you if the maximum pressure of a connected Pressure Transducer is being exceeded. Subjecting a transducer to overpressure can damage the sensor membrane and impact its performance. Damage caused by improper use or overpressure is not covered under the SafeGauge product warranty.
